This was weird, simply. Tommy never opened up about his life back home. Especially not to someone he barely knew. Like Arabella. For whatever reason, he’d decided to share his secret about his mom. It probably had to do with the fact that she was able to tell him about her past, that made him ready to open up. Whatever it was, it happened, and that was the point. He couldn’t take it back now. Another weird thing was that he actually wanted to go out for coffee with her. As of recently, he’d just been at the point where he barely wanted to go out. Summer did that to him. Summers back home met having to watch Alex all day instead of hanging out with his friends. That alone made him dread summer. To top it off, there was absolutely nothing to do here on campus. No parties, barely any people around. Then Jenny still had four weeks or so at her training program before she came home. Basically, there was nothing for him to do. At least he now had this with Arabella?

Sighing softly as he got up, he changed into a pair of jeans and a random t-shirt from his closet, grabbing his wallet off of the counter. He’d only gone into town a couple of times since his arrival at Olympus, so he was hoping he’d remember where the shop was. Part of him wondered if she would even show up. She seemed so wary about everything. As if she didn’t even want to be friends or anything. Then again, that was probably the case. If the two had been having their conversation six months earlier, he probably would’ve been an insensitive asshole about the whole situation. Oh, have times changed for him.

It only took him about ten minutes to reach the small coffee shop he asked Arabella to meet him at. Taking a quick glance around, he noticed that she wasn’t there and quickly moved over to order, just getting a regular coffee for himself. He then took a seat towards the back of the shop as he waited for Arabella to show up, sipping his drink as he did so.

Arabella kept stopping and starting while getting changed to meet Tommy. She didn’t know why she had ended up telling him about her dad, she had done her best not to talk about it with anyone. Not wanting to draw attention to it, the more people that knew meant the more people feeling sorry for her. She had started talking about it without thinking, and before she knew it she was blurting out everything to Tommy. She couldn’t decide if she should go and see him because it had felt so good to be able to open up to someone about it, but she wasn’t sure if by opening up to Tommy it meant that they were friends. She couldn’t have friends, that was too risky, she didn’t want to have to go through losing someone she cared about again, not ever. The best way to do that? Avoid caring for people, and this includes friends.

However much Arabella told herself she shouldn’t go to meet Tommy she still eventually found herself stood outside the coffee house where she had agreed to meet Tommy. Arabella paused right outside, hesitating. Tommy was nice, even when she had teased him he had been nice to her, and she actually really enjoyed talking to him even if she would never admit that. Sighing deeply Arabella slowly walked inside and looked around for Tommy, after spotting the son of Hephaestus sitting alone with his coffee Arabella walked to get her own coffee before sitting down across to Tommy.

At first Arabella said nothing, she didn’t say hello but instead looked at Tommy, holding eye contact as she tried to figure out if she could bring herself to open up to him. Arabella swallowed and readjusted herself, sitting up straighter in her chair. “So… Coffee with my acquaintance.” Arabella smiled, though it was small and faded quickly.
